Note that this bridge is not compatible with 1954-1962 Gibson guitars which have the studs offset at an angle (see comparison photo). Installing a MojoAxe CWT60 bridge is a great way to dramatically improve the playability of your vintage Gibson guitar while maintaining the appearance of the original part. It has a nickel finish that is tastefully aged for an appropriate look on a 40-50 year old guitar. The MojoAxe CWT60 bridge is made to the same dimensions and material (diecast zinc) as the original 1960's lightning bolt bridge, the only difference being that the saddles have been repositioned for proper intonation with modern string sets. The MojoAxe CWT60 bridge replicates the design and appearance of the original 1960's Gibson lightning bridge, however the saddles are positioned for correct intonation with modern string sets which have 3-wound/3-plain strings (the original 1960’s bridge was designed for string sets with a wound G-sting, thus is impossible to properly intonate with modern string sets which have a plain G-string). The fit and finish is excellent and they are built like a Swiss watch, No slop in the saddle adjustment and the mounting studs fit snugly in the slots. This is the finest wraparound bridge that I' ve found. Not thrilled, especially at the price point! It might also be how rough the plating is where the saddles are meant to glide. Not thrilled with that, but now it works. A bit of oil and a LOT of screw turning finally got things working. While this bridge looks and fits well, 5 of the 6 saddle adjustments are somehow bound, as if cross threaded in manufacture. Replaced the stock wraparound bar on my Les Paul Special, and made it a fine instrument that is very stable and easy to adjust intonation. This is the exeptional piece of German machining that I had in mind, with the fine, lustrous plating that was expected. Philadelphia LT&S stepped up and made things right! My anomaly was replaced with the real thing, and I' m impressed. The piece is exceptional, and the service was too!
This piece is every bit the exquisite German machining and lustrous nickel plating I expected! Replaced the stock bar on my Les Paul Special, now I can adjust the intonation, and it' s a pleasure. Luthier Tool & Supply made things right, replacing the anomaly I received, and I' m thrilled. I' d buy it again and I' d buy it over competitive offerings from Gotoh etc. It' s expensive, not as cool looking as the stock wrap-around, but the guitar intonates much better up and down the neck, even though the stock bridge wasn' t too bad. Unlike the stock bridge, this doesn' t tilt toward the nut and makes snug contact with the posts. The upside is that the bridge will sit fully onto the posts - there' s so much adjustment in the saddle travel that the hex screws were not needed to pull the bridge back. Fit and finish are excellent, but you' ll give up a bit of sustain compared to the stock Gibson wrap tailpiece / bridge, in exchange for accurate intonation. You' ll need a long screwdriver with the blade sides filed to the width of the screw slot to avoid damage to the saddle adjuster screws as they are quite snug.
